Collaborating with local schools, we cultivate a network of learning and production gardens. Developing nine school gardens has enriched hundreds of families with hands-on agricultural education. Our innovative approach includes community meals, farmers markets, food bank distributions, and school programming incorporating healthy food harvested from the Montbello Urban Farm. Children are growing healthy food for themselves, their families, and their community.
Our summer internship initiative not only employs high school students but also enriches younger generations through hands-on gardening, food preparation, event organizing, and nutrition education.
Annually, gardeners of all levels are welcome to come and take home a free variety of seedlings.
CFA developed the Montbello Urban Farm in 2014. This thriving endeavor yields thousands of pounds of fresh produce annually.
CFA has helped 9 schools build learning gardens that are incorporated into the school playground. Staff work with teachers and outreach coordinators at each partner school to define the scope of the farm program and to identify the ages/grades that will be the focus at each school.
Summer Camps are held once a week during with elementary and middle school aged students. These programs include gardening, art, sports, and nutrition education in collaboration with Colorado Black Arts Movement, FaithBridge, and the Struggle of Love Foundation.
